Cumbrae Taekwondo Scotland opened in January 2008 in Tamfourhill Community Centre. The club is part of the United Taekwondo Association UK and a member of the British Taekwondo Control Board.
We are one of only a few clubs in the district teaching WTF recognised Taekwondo. Clubs who state we teach WTF style Taekwondo and are not members of the BTCB are not Olympic recognised and students will never be able to compete in WTF approved competitions or for their country at Commonwealth or Olympic games.
The club was formed with the aim of providing a sporting interest for the local community. We aim to be family orientated and provide a friendly and welcoming environment for people to meet and train.
The club has a policy of non discrimination against gender, age, sexuality, creed or colour. Everyone is welcome. Students can start training at aged 5 years, we already have students ranging from 5 years to 50 years. We have many family groups training with us and offer various family discounts. There are no club membership or standing orders to pay, pay per session, or save with a discounted block booking. Students are allowed to progress through the stages at the rate they feel comfortable with, no pressure will be put on anyone.
The club has a full social programme outwith training sessions which everyone can become involved in. We hold fun events throughout the year which the whole family can attend, also as student's progress through their training there will be gradings and if they wish competitions to enter. Students from the club have already acheived Gold in both Poomsae (patterns) and Kyorogi (sparring) at National level.
We have a club committee who help organise events which raise funds for the club. These funds are used for the good of all students.
Your first session is FREE, no special clothing is required to start with just loose trousers a t/shirt (no football tops) and light trainers, just arrive 10mins before the start of a session and give your details.
